I’ve had my Garmin Forerunner 305 for several months now, and just as I bought it the new Garmin Forerunner 405 came out. I’m glad I bought my Forerunner when I did though, and I certainly have no regrets about buying it… but I can be ever so impulsive, and so now I’m considering a Garmin Forerunner 405!
One of the main reasons I didn’t buy a GPS for running when I first bought a heart rate monitor with pace monitoring functionality was because most of the reviews I read at the time were talking about poor satellite reception in built up areas or areas with a lot of cloud cover.
However, this was a good 3 years ago now, so having read more reviews recently about the Garmin Forerunner 305 and how Garmin had improved the chip that locates the satellites, I didn’t have an excuse not to buy one anymore!
Since writing abut how the Garmin Forerunner 305 is charged I’ve been concerned about the battery life of the wrist unit.
On a couple of occasions I’ve put the wrist unit on to start a run just to be greeted with the ‘Battery level low’ warning sign!

The first part of this Garmin Forerunner 305 review looked at my reasons for buying the Garmin as well as what came in the box. In this part of the review we’ll look at how the unit is charged up to use.
I’ve always been a Polar heart rate monitor user before but having not been best pleased that the strap broke on my RS400sd after less than a year, I decided to buy a Garmin Forerunner 305.
I carried out a lot of research online before buying my Polar RS400sd last year – and on the whole every comparison I saw was Polar vs Garmin. And it boiled down to one thing – footpod technology vs GPS technology.
At last… after 3 attempts at a delivery I’ve just received my new Garmin Foreunner 305.
Once I’ve unpacked it all I’ll post a review!
