I’ve got my appointment through for a bone scan to see if I have a stress fracture

I’ve finally received an appointment through to have a bone scan to find out what’s wrong with me leg. It sounds pretty scary - it’s actually called an isotope bone scan - part of the nuclear medicine facilities at the local NHS hospital.

The appointment ha come through with a leaflet explaining what’s going to happen n the day… it’s not simply a turn up, get it done, and off you go type thing (like the X-Rray was!).

I’ve got to go along in the morning and get an injection, and then return to the hospital a few hours later to actually get the scan done. It takes this long for the stuff they inject you with to get into your bones!

The most worrying thing is that the letter says that I should avoid all contact with small children and babies for a few hours after the scan due to radiation risks!

It can’t be that bad… but I am interested to see exactly what will happen. I’m booked in for next Monday… so stay tuned!

What to do next...
