My doctor has referred me for Plantar Fasciitis

My heel pain has finally got the better of me!

After a week’s break from running I’m still waking up with a pain in my right heel. You know the kind of thing… a single point of pain about half way along the heel pad. It’s certainly not as bad as it has been but it’s got to the point that I really do want to know once and for sure if there’s more to it than plantar fasciitis or even if there’s anything that can be done.

I just really ant to know if I’m doing more damage by continuing to run or not. I’m also still keeping each run to only about 3 miles – which is obviously not good enough to build a good base mileage for 10k’s – let alone if I’m successful in getting a place to next year’s London Marathon!

So, I went to my doctor last week and although it was pretty clear fro my description of my symptoms that it was probably plantar fasciitis he still referred me to a consultant orthopaedic surgeon. I mean, I have private medical insurance, so it would be stupid not to use it!

Not sure when the appointment is as yet, or even what my options will be… watch this space…

What to do next...
