Paula Radcliffe wins her first 10-miler

Earlier today Paula Radcliffe won her first official 10-mile race at the BUPA Great South Run. Not only that, but she broke the British record and only missed out on a world record by 21 seconds, in 51 minutes 11 seconds.

Now I’m sure that this didn’t make up for the disappointment of the Beijing Olympics, but it must have made Paula feel good. The New York Marathon is next week, and this must have been a key race for Paula’s preparations. To only miss a world record by 21 seconds says to me that she’s in good form.

The Times reported this weekend that she only had a few days off after the Beijing Olympic Marathon, and that she’s now running 140 miles a week!
